Why I am Running for School Board

As a dedicated educator with 36 years of experience, I am passionate about ensuring every student in our district receives the support they need to thrive. My candidacy is more than just a bid for office; it’s a commitment to fostering a school environment where all students, staff, and families feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

My philosophy is simple: students come first. Throughout my career, I have consistently made decisions based on the needs of my students, striving to ensure that every child is seen and heard. I believe this student-first approach is essential, especially in a time when educational priorities become complex.

Safety and well-being are also central to my platform. I understand that students can only excel academically when they feel safe, secure, and supported. That’s why one of my main goals is to ensure that our schools are not only places of learning but also environments where students feel confident and safe. Whether it’s ensuring physical safety or emotional well-being, my goal is to create an atmosphere where both students and staff are free to focus without distractions.

Teachers and support staff are the backbone of our schools, and they deserve the best resources, training, and support we can provide. By promoting professional development and ensuring fair compensation, I will work tirelessly to attract and retain the best educators.

Transparency and accountability are fundamental principles of my campaign. As someone who has worked closely with the district on bargaining and negotiations, I have a deep understanding of the need for fiscal responsibility and strategic resource allocation. I am committed to finding balanced solutions, reviewing budgets carefully, and making cuts when necessary—without compromising the quality of education. My goal is always to protect the classroom experience while making responsible financial decisions.

I bring a unique combination of experience, passion, and dedication to the table. I am ready to serve our community, advocate for our students and staff, and ensure that every student in the Battle Ground School District has the opportunity to succeed.

I, Lorri Sibley, ask for your support and vote, as we work together to build a better future for our schools, our students, and our community.
