Community Trust is Essential
I believe that our community's trust must be earned and our funds must be spent wisely. This means setting and meeting performance metrics, focusing on community outreach and engagement, and operating with full transparency when it comes to operations and budgeting.
Academic Success
l believe that academic success can mean a lot of different things depending on the individual student and we need to meet students where they are to help prepare them for a life after high school. This means putting an emphasis on Career and Technical Education programs, Advanced Placement courses, Alternative Learning Environments, and Special Education programs.
School Safety
I believe that students learn best in a safe and nurturing environment. This means prioritizing school safety - for the benefit of both students and faculty, having adequate security, nurses and counselors, and enforcing a zero tolerance policy for bullying, intimidation, and chronically disruptive behaviors.
Healthy and Prosperous Battle Ground
I believe that our schools and our students must be a foundation of our community in order for Battle Ground to thrive. This means that investing in our school facilities, faculty, and curriculum in order to drive student success are essential to growing a more healthy and prosperous community for all of us.
Willing to Ask the Hard Questions
I believe speaking out and asking questions is essential for guiding the district. I am not afraid of asking those questions and sharing my experience and thoughts. I will not be rubber stamping district decisions. I will look at what is best for students, staff and the district as a whole. My experience with Battle Ground Education Association leadership has given me many opportunities to look at budgets and to raise concerns/ questions
My Promise
I promise to be a tireless advocate for Battle Ground Schools and the whole Battle Ground community. I promise to seek out and listen to the feedback of the beloved community I represent, the exceptional students we serve, and the gifted district employees who give their all to public service on a daily basis.
